    Knox to hold final fund-raiser

And strikes back at the sudden turn in the tone of this campaign.

From an e-mail sent to supporters:

    Dear Friends,
Your steadfast support over the past 16 months has been crucial to our growing momentum and now, just 21 days from the election, we are peaking. However, our growing lead in the polls is bringing out negative and desperate tactics from our opponents. We need your support so that we can continue to counter their baseless accusations.
Join us tomorrow, April 25th, for our final fundraiser before the May 15th Democratic Primary. Your $250 contribution will go a long way to help us answer the slurs and attacks ads that our opponents are pushing on Philadelphia.
Tom Knox is running for mayor of Philadelphia to end the pay-to-play politics and to reclaim Philadelphia's streets for every Philadelphian. I hope you will join us by making your contribution today.
    Sincerely,
    Josh Morrow
    Campaign Manager, Knox for Philly
P.S. See the invitation below and make your $250 contribution today to help Tom end politics as usual in Philadelphia.

So why is Knox holding a fundraiser at $250 per head? I thought that he was self-funding his campaign.

    Love 2 Dance:

The only candidate in this race who is involved in Pay to Play Politics is Mr. ob-KNOX-ous. He IS paying to play.

    Wendy:

He is self-funding, but has also solicited and accepted donations, which would repay the money he gave to the campaign. The last time he had to report, he'd collected money from 345 other people. But that was in December, and the number has certainly grown quite a bit.

His campaign finance disclosure is on the Controller's website:

    Jill:

I wonder if Knox is beginning to grow weary at the financial commitment he has now entered into. At the beginning, his goal was to invest the 5 million and then raise it back. When he turned that loan into a gift, that option melted away.

Word is that to use the color copier at Knox HQ, you need to ask permission, and that his resources are running low.

Could it be his conversion of that loan into a gift has knocked some of the wind out of his sails?

Could it be that, after creating an impressive lead early on, he now is unable or unwilling to commit the resources necessary to defend it?

Could it be that the 5 million is only the tip of the iceberg? How much else has he expended out of his own pocket?

But most importantly, will his scroogish nature doom his campaign in the home stretch?

Things to ponder with 21 days left...

Knox said he was "buying" city hall with his own money to give it back to us. Now it looks like he's just buying it-period.

    Dave [TypeKey Profile Page]:

It's been pretty clear since the campaign finance reports were released in January and it was announced that Knox had raise a half million dollars that he wasn't just using his own money.

I'd be curious to see his May report.

    Jill:

So if he is'nt using his own money, then what's the FREAKING POINT OF HIS CAMPAIGN!!!

His entire campaign is built on his so called "independence" from special interests.

Now, he is accepting donations just like everyone else.

Like the rest of the achievements in his career, his campaign is a fraud wrapped in hyperbole.

    STOP KNOX NOW!

    The whole truth:

You knew that sooner or later this scumball, sleaze bucket knox would unveil himself for the anti-semitic, homophobic, self absorbed liar that he really is - he would not help his brother or family because he is a cheap, lying fraud -a total fraud

    Dumbo:

Thomas Knox is going to unveil his latest crime fighting plan -he is going to have discs shaped like his huge ugly ears given to the police, so they can hurl them at would be criminals
