« Or you can outside this weekend and get the stink blown off ya | TheNextMayor.com Main Page | Seven Days in the Mayor's Race »

    Shark claims its first victim...

That would be, former Brady advisor, Ken Smukler.

    The press release.

No word in the press release on the exact reason why Smukler was let go but it probably had something to do with his affinity for a certain Seattle-based coffee chain.

When something like this goes down, does Brady push a button that opens a trap door beneath the terminated employee's feet, dropping him into a tank of Tommys?

(edited to add) And they thought they could dump out this press release after 7pm on a Friday night and no one would be around to get it. Never underestimate how little of a life I have! We can discuss this event and whatever else happens this weekend on Monday.

    G'night everyone.

I guess the Brady campaign has finally hit the panic button.

The gravy train is going to come to sudden stop.

    Wendy:

Does the Shark get credit for this, (as in, "Shark claims its first victim") or Frank Keel?

    Steve W.:

I'm sort of wondering the same thing about the owner of this website. Dan, have I been banned from posting any further messages at this website?

One more act of hypocracy for Tom Knox: I'll end machine politics (well accept for one of the worst leaders of the machine Jon Doc who the FBI is investing) because it helps my bottom line. Tom Knox is a fraud.

    Anonymous:

Jon Doc will not be with Knox on election day. He is a snake who will slither to the camp he thinks will win.

    Anonymous:

    Typical "Shady Brady".

    seand:

The last time Frank Keel was appearing this prominantly in the media he was working for Mariano - then when Mariano tried to turn witness against Dougherty he wasn't working for Keel wasn't working for Mariano anymore. Strange that.

Anyway between the Mariano incident and a rather prominant role in Tigre Hill's Shame of A City I would not think Mr. Knox would want Keel and company anyone within a 5 block radius of his campaign. Apparently not.

Its hard to run as a reformer when you are surrounded by shenanigans and counter shenanigans like this. This whole incident hurts both Knox and Brady, IMO.

    Catherine:

Knox appears to want anyone he can buy in his camp. Now his support for Jeanie Maxwell has become public. Doc shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. Maybe if enough of these people come out of the wood-work y'all will believe us when we say Knox is no outsider, and he's a liar when he says he is.

    Anonymous:

    Maxwell? LOL

BTW, this goes to show that personal wealth can only do so much for you in politics. He can't just buy Blackwell, he has to promise her a favor.

Nutter also looks to be beating him with something he doesn't have unlimited amounts of: time. By waiting to go on TV, Nutter's timing things so his numbers will peak right around the election, while everyone else's are currently on their way down. A risky strategy, but it looks like it's paying off.

    I'm a homey too:

Can you smell the stink? That your favorite egotist and rat -Jonny Doc. Here is a\his deal: support Sharif Street, Janie Blackwell, The Queen of Poverty (and she makes a great living on the backs of others in her poor, bad ass district)and take the money from the Fraud knox -who needs a script to just say "hello".

Anyway, isn't great to know that our former union brother uses Local 98 simply for his own welfare and his own agenda? I hope his whole crew loses and that would be true reform!

But always remember, he wants his brother Kevin to be District Attorney - and -my brothers and sisters -we ain't ever, ever, gonna let that happen. Those white Irish folks are to crazy - they lock up there own people - ain't enough to be a judge -no -he gotta have it all.

Remeber Chaka this fool was never with y'all and neither was Janie "Queen of Poverty" Blackwell. All she wonts is to be President of City counicl -man she'd better get a real job and quit playin

Bob Brady is a example of what is wrong with our city. He has resorted to the same 527 tactics that GEORGE BUSH used to attack Kerry with the Swift Boat campaign!!! And now his slimy consultant is trying to pin the blame on those who set the record straight? Where does the BS end Bob Brady?

    Anonymous:

Brady "spins the sh!t" to get Street re-elected.

Brady admitted it was all a lie.

Brady states he admires Tom DeLay, and that it would be nice to have a guy like him on his team.

Seems pretty obvious that the Shark is right up his alley.

Hopefully both Brady and Knox will drop in the polls.

    Catherine:

Top 10 Reasons to vote for Tom Knox.

    10. Anyone who owns 900 bottles of wine has discerning taste and is used to making difficult decisions.
    9. Multi millionaires are so unloved, it is a cause (charity) I care deeply about.
    8. His plans to manage and help us adapt to the incoming casinos by giving key opportunities to his banking cronies are exactly what those neighborhoods need to help them avoid well known pitfalls of the casino industry.
    7. He recognizes the importance of keeping our working class poor in their place and has proven strategies of pay day loans and predatory mortgage practices to ensure they stay where they belong.
    6. Anyone who ex co-workers describes as having the “personality of a dead trout” and “completely lacking in political ability” must possess exactly the sort of management style, leadership capabilities, and team building instincts that make him perfect to lead the 6th largest city in the country.
    5. Vince Fumo, Mike Youngblood, David S. Fishbone, Frank Keel, Local 98, the Johnny Doc Goons and Jeanie Maxwell represent the exact sort of law-abiding, ethical, outsiders who should clean up this town.
    4. Anyone who can sit back while his nephew and grandchildren of his brother are put out on the street demonstrates the qualities we need in our mayor….someone who cares, is a good problem solver, and possesses brotherly love.
    3. A man who has no relevant work experience, takes credit for work he has not done, exaggerates (to the point of lying) his actions, does not play well with others, received an unsatisfactory from his stint in public service (fired for Fidelity Insurance, remember?), criticizes people for no show jobs when he’s forced people to give him the same sort of job, and runs with scissors sets the right sort of example for our children and by that example will solve the education crisis in this city.
    2. Eviscerating employee pension funds is an excellent to make money.

And the #1 reason to vote for Tom Knox?
    1. The scent of all his money is hypnotic and I find myself robbed of free will (and ethics) thinking “I must vote for Tom Knox”.

    Steve W.:

Dan P., sorry about the delay in getting back to you. I've been so busy the past few days I haven't been able to make it on to the web. But the message I tried posting last week -- regarding Knox and his shady loan practices -- did get posted after all. Just not the same night I tried posting it was all. Nor the next night for that matter. But now that I'm back I see that it did go through. Thanks for your concerns nevertheless!

Meantime, in terms of future postings from me, if they become scarce from here forward, it's hard to stay focused on a mayoral race where NE Philly (which is where I am) doesn't even exist to any of the candidates. We really need to have our own mayor here, actually. In relationship to Philadelphia, sort of like the Vatican City being its own country tucked away in Italy or whatever.

    Steve W.:

Dan P., it happened again, my message got blocked from being posted, this time at the thread titled "Endorsements Roundup." Here's the message I got when I tried posting:

    "Thank you for commenting.
