    Katz leaves the GOP!

    (Wendy edited to update throughout)

So, is Sam Katz' grousing related to the fact that...

HE MIGHT RUN AS AN INDEPENDENT?

    OR EVEN AS A REPUBLICAN?

    THIS FALL?

Now, both the Daily News (through The Next Mayor, of course) and the Inquirer (props to Marcia Gelbart, who had her story out first) are reporting.

Read Dave Davies' story for the Daily News here.

Now that the Fight for 215 and the Next Mayor have become cabon copies, maybe you should just add them to your blog roll.

Who cares about Katz -he is yesterday's loser news story!

    Fairmount R:

Given how much money it takes to run for mayor - as Sam Katz knows all too well - it would be surprising if he entered the race given that he still carries a crushing amount of campaign debt from his last run in 2003. Unless I am mistaken, this would be his fourth run for mayor and the longest shot of all.

    Ryan:

Go Sam! You'd be the best man for the city

    Voice of the People:

For those of you looking to Plan B Knox, this is the answer. If Knox wins, Kats will run as an independent and garner much of the democratic party support, unofficially. If Knox does not win the primary, then Katz will not enter the fray. As a Plan B I think its brilliant...I am sure he could use Saidel's $1M to kickstart his campaign in the summer.

Maybe Saidel will run himself if the evil one knox wins (which he won't). Saidel is better than this collective field of candidates and knows city government inside and out... Go away Katz

    Andrew:

Dan do you think Sam will run?

    Wendy:

    Dan?

    "This fall will be great!!!

A ethically challenged SUCCESSFUL businessman pitted against an ethically challenged UNSUCCESSFUL businessman.

    Philly REFORM!!!"

Yes, but at least one of these ethically challenged businessmen knows how to speak in public, work with others and has been paying attention to the needs of this city for 15+ years. Sam Katz might not be a banner of ethical behavior, but I think he knows what this city needs, and can work with other to get it done. As to whether Knox posessed these fundamental traits- I am worried.

I anyone is really worried about this match up, vote for Nutter, Katz won't even bother setting up a campaign fund, like the rest of us who pay attention- he knos that Nutter would get the job done.
