Sorry I'm distracting from all today's fun. Personally, the only shark I care about is this one - it looks like Knox is going to need a bigger boat - and I'd actually rather watch reruns of 227 than talk about a 527.
I just wanted to point out that our affiliated content partner at the Philadelphia Business Journal have been doing a bang-up job of digging deep into some of the issues being talked about by the candidates and others. I just updated this page so that we're caught up with all of their content.
Some new content of note includes:
A story about how the pension fund is actually earning a decent amount lately. This kinda lets some air out of Knox's idea that all we need to do to fix it is invest better.
Columns by PBJ editor Bernie Dagenais about his paper's editorial board interviews with Nutter, Evans, Fattah and Brady. I'll put the Knox one up as soon as I get it and I'll put a new link to the Fattah piece so that you can see it without a subscription. Unsuprisingly, PBJ was most impressed by Nutter, whose only negative was that he worked to impose the smoking ban on businesses.
PBJ has also been doing some great work researching best practices in other cities and found crime fighting methods in Minnesota that could provide lessons for Philly and an experience with airport privatization in Chicago that may have ramifications for Fattah's big plan. (Though with the suburbs looking to "regionalize" the airport, that plan may have become a little more difficult.)
They're also still conducting an internet poll of their readers to see who would be the best for business. Nutter has surged ahead of Knox is this admittedly unscientific poll.
If you're tired of sharks and 3-digit numbers, take some time to check out their stuff.
