    The council results suck.

Does anyone know where the municipal judge results are listed?

    Sick in West Philly:

Will someone please run against Jannie Hackwell?!

Nutter has practically the same council as mayor that he walked away from.

This is the same council that loves the wage tax, loves the tax on gross not net earnings, and loves to not collect property taxes in their own district.

Krajewski's claim to fame is closing Holmesburg, but newsflash to the NE, it's open.

Verna's win is easily explained in that she's at least not a PHA attorney.

Tasco, D.R. Miller, Blackwell, and to an extent Kenney don't have the will to make Philly concentrate on the basics of municipal government without huge debt or uncollected property taxes of $430 million at last count.

The old crew will still have the city be the largest property owner in the city, which kills its own tax base since the city doesn't pay itself taxes.

The city will still have as its largest landlord the Phila. Housing Authority and all the mostly derilect housing it doesn't maintain at all (but for a few new developments). Council won't make PHA sell what it can't use or fix.

In other words, without a Knox type administrator, stasis on revenue, debt, tax base, and budget.

Can a charming, intelligent, scholarly visionary administer with such a crew of professional obfuscationists?

This council doesn't have the spine to say, hey, 25% of Philadelphians who didn't graduate high school, pay ya bills or live somewhere cheaper than a major east coast city.

Own property? Then pay your property taxes or lose your house to pay off the bill. Owe gas bills? Then pay up or lose your house to pay off the bill. Owe water bills? Then pay it off or lose your property to a lien sale to collect.

The Department of Revenue and the Sheriff need to be taken over by Harrisburg! That's the only way that property taxes will be used to pay for those pesky schoolkids who don't vote.

This is what other cities and counties do. You can't not pay your public bills and get away with it for a decade. The property now has more than enough value to cover this collectable "bad debt."

Pols only pretend it's bad debt.

This is what we have to do to have a tax base that doesn't drive out business and wage earners.

Fattah was Street-lite, but Council not going to get tough with the deadbeats either.

I can't wait for stop and frisk, I mean it!!

I'm going to my local open air drug market at 22nd and Catharine and watch all the homies get patted down all day and all night.

I can hear them now, yelling, "Help, help, I'm being oppressed!"

    Anonymous:

This Council will probably outlaw any stop and frisk.

"Now, now, I can't have you patting down the crack house vote!"

    paul_lukasiak:

well, the good news is that it doesn't look like Blackwell has a shot at Council president.

The reelection of Donna Reed Miller spells continued doom for Germantown. Curtis Jones in the 4th is an improvement over Jabba the Hut, the convicted campaign finance violator, but Curtis is not going to have the balls to step forward on the tough tax issues the way McClure would have. Jannie Blackwell is not even worth commenting on.

    Anonymous:

Jabba the Hut has not yet technically lost the election. Whoever is running her office, since it's clearly not her because she is tied to a dialysis machine and then has to recover so she can't come to work ever, is likely going to demand a recount, maybe even a run off.

So, that may be good news indeed for critical mass for change.

It also will make the machine stop special-electing placeholders like dictator control freaks and let actual democracy happen. Yikes!

Blackwell lost it for Knox because he was seen as making a deal with the devil in the bad wig. Knox, you fool!

    Joey:

    WHAT A DISGRACE. 4
MOREM YEARS OF CORRUPTION AND JOBB LOSS. wAY TO BE SELFISH BRADY. GUESS IT'S TIME TO SELL MY 300 K HOUSE. tHANKS A lOT SELLOUT

Is anyone watching the national scene? America's Mayor Rudy G. is stealing the show. McCain is looking stoic.

I see another Republican admin., and that's what Council can expect from the feds -- not more cash, but a lecture on how to tighten the belt, collect bad debt, and update municipal services, auditing, and finance and cut taxes.

Philly government will have to shrink by more than half, and city held assets like the massive amount of property sold to the highest takers.

Council is still comfortably oblivious to the conservative feel of the state and the nation.

Pay your way or die, I think, is the message.

    Anonymous:

Don't sell yet Joey. The federal budget cuts will require that Philly make those tough decisions to allow the tax base to build again. We just can't afford a city where the city's largest landlord pays no property taxes, and the city is the largest deadbeat property owner.

The cuba style of "government owns assets and redistributes the wealth to the people" famously created the drug infested bloody hell hole we still all love.

Philly won't be be able to turn the other way at it's largest employer who also pays nothing to it (drugs). It will have to go legit, and court legit business. Nutter will do that. Knox will still be part of that economic revitalization.

The city is still a treasure, and people are coming back and making it home. I hope Knox re-enters municipal finance, where he worked his Rendell magic.

    Anonymous:

Nutter is very pro economy, anti wage tax. That is a clear start to the new era.

    Lisa Clark:

I can't believe that Donna Reed Miller won again! More than half of Germantown said they wanted her out. But I guess when they went to vote, they just either pulled one lever or pushed buttons straight down. As a life-long resident of Germantown, on several occassions needed her assistance, and we couldn't get a return phone call.

    Philadelphia is Changing:

    Knox is toast
Dougherty is a creep and loser
Blackwell is a sellout and on her wayout

Local 98 is exposed and the union dues will be increased to cover the expenses of the propaganda and arts and crafts work perfomed by their less than capable and dishonest union (sic) members.

Good bye and don;t come back!

    sj:

its a shame more incumbents didnt get the boot, but in many cases the vote was split between multiple challengers. That is why Miller is still in office.

    Lamont w Thomas:

I can't believe how racist Anonymous is and as for stop and frisk if I get touched by any police officer without probable cause then I am going to sue. I lost my Council race to Marion Tasco because I was forced to stop campianing because her people unlike in other Council races go into private stores to rip down your signs or throw away your road signs. She only got another term because most people in this City continue to be very stupid voting for someone who don't even come out to see what's going on in her district unless it is around election time. Dwight Evans, that Monkey Senator Leanne Washington and Marion Tasco this District deserve better. Young People have to get out and make their vote count because I personally witness Evans and Tasco people drag old people out to vote who could not even walk to vote. I will run again and this time do a better job. As long as old people have the breath to push a vote button this three shit's will keep on winning. Dwight Evans lost because he's a hero in his own mind and if he transformed his district into so much why have'nt the rest of the city picked up on this,he will continue to lose.
