There will be some relatively big endorsement announcements today, from elected leaders backing Dwight Evans, to Jannie Blackwell endorsing Knox and Knox endorsing City Council candidates, to an oddity: most of the locals that make up the powerful city blue-collar union group District Council 33 will go for Bob Brady, but DC33 itself will not endorse.
So that led me to compile a list -- no doubt I have missed something, so just comment if I have -- of endorsements to date in the race.
There are some large groups here. I know that the police (endorsing Brady), fire fighters (Brady) and Pentecostal Clergy Political Action Committee (Fattah, and it represents more than 50 churches with 25,000 members) will be able to get their vote out on Election Day. But some of the other groups...which are smaller, and have members that live outside the city and can't vote...
What role do those endorsements play?
And what role do pols who endorse other pols play, except to let voters see the dealmaking before we have to go to the polls? (We appreciate that, by the way.)
Please discuss.

can someone please tell the Evans' campaign that it is illegal to post campaign literature on telephone and light polls?

Since Evans and Brady have no shot at winning, (and hopefully, this time, many of the traditional lemming union members realize that)it really matters little. This is a two horse race, Knox and Nutter and the race card will play a large part in determining who gets the nod. Nutter has to hope the other candidtates don't siphon off enough votes for Knox to get the nod. Fattah , Evans and Brady seem so scared to see Knox win, makes you wonder just how corrupt the democratic machine is that they are so worried about him winning, and not owing them a thing. I love it.

Are you serious? Knox is making deals left and right with the worst characters in Philly politics (Janie Blackwell???). Knox's business background doesn't demonstrate anything except that he's really good at exploiting the little guy.

If a candidate is endorsed by unions, I am voting for the other guy.
Unions only endorse the candidate that will provide them with the most benefits. They could care less about the real issues.
Todays unions are nothing more than shake-down machines. They serve no other purpose, other than to drive business away.
