The independent Philadelphia Board of Ethics today reached a Settlement Agreement with the Democratic City Committee’s two Political Action Committees (PACs) and Councilwoman Carol Campbell. Under the terms of this agreement, Councilwoman Campbell agreed to refrain from taking any action whatsoever to authorize or influence the financial decisions of the two PACs. The settlement agreement was reached after the Ethics Board’s investigation discovered credible evidence that Councilwoman Campbell was directing the Democratic PACs’ campaign contributions and other expenditures to influence Tuesday’s primary election in violation of the City’s campaign finance law.

man, i really wish i understood this ruling. It seems like she's was charged with violating the city's campaign finance law but her punishment was a stern 'STOP THAT'.
Is that correct - or am I missing something?

It's nice to see the Ethics Board so active...and they're just getting started. Nutter's persistence in pushing ethics reform in City Council is starting to pay off. Sure, it wasn't just him, but he is certainly a leader in ethics reform and one of the biggest proponents.

How can you quantify hiring a croney electrician for Dougherty at 65K per year - when you clearly -clearly need more inspectors and clerks. When Mc Donald started to question the commisioner, he requested that Personnel post a Housing inspector position opening!
Look into it -you will not be sorry you did - this is a stone cold Street approved -Dougherty deal to infiltrate and control L & I -and the Commissioner wants to come back after he leaves on August 16, 2007 via the DROP PROGRAM. I can't blame him - he does nothing now and has gotten a real big ego since being appointed - you can take this to the bank

Without a doubt, Michael Nutter is a kind-hearted person. Mr. Nutter is doing his very best but he has been part of a failed system for fourteen years. Philadelphia needs a tough-minded person who will take action and not be intimindated by the local government representatives. Someone who is not part of the current problem but will be the solution to the current issues that face Philadelphia. The city needs to bring in more companies who will offer jobs; increase the police force immediately and tackle the poor educational system. The children deserve much better. Philadelphia needs to ensure that a high majority of the students graduate from high school. The students need vocational training along with preparation for college. Philadelphia, wake-up....the city is in trouble and it is only going to get worse if we do not make a big 360 change. I strongly recommend that you consider voting for Mr. Knox. I believe he has the managerial skills and know how to help Philadelphia out of its current delema.

Mr. Nutter has been fighting to change our failed system for 14 years. Without Nutter, we would not have ethics reform. Nutter is the reformer. Knox is the one partnering with every criminal element of the failed system. With Knox, the criminals really will be running the city.
