Ethics Board to settle with Campbell?

And the ruling, which is expected later today, could have major repercussions for Democratic city politics.

Basically, Campbell will agree to stay out of the financial affairs of the Democratic City Committee's two political action committees, which will also -- and this is my favorite part -- agree to "ongoing monitoring" by the Ethics Board.

As a candidate for Council, Campbell can have only one political committee at her disposal.

    Wow.

For us non-insiders, can you explain what this ruling means in practical terms?

Please explain. It sounds important but I don't get it

    Forget Campbell -cehck this out!
How can you quantify hiring a croney electrician for Dougherty at 65K per year - when you clearly -clearly need more inspectors and clerks. When Mc Donald started to question the commisioner, he requested that Personnel post a Housing inspector position opening!
Look into it -you will not be sorry you did - this is a stone cold Street approved -Dougherty deal to infiltrate and control L & I -and the Commissioner wants to come back after he leaves on August 16, 2007 via the DROP PROGRAM. I can't blame him - he does nothing now and has gotten a real big ego since being appointed - you can take this to the bank

    We know.
You have posted this to every section of the blog. People are listening they just haven't confirmed your claims.

    from fight for room 215:
    "
...the ethics board has reached a settlement with Carol Campbell that will keep her from deciding where Democratic City Committee money goes for Election Day activities. Candidates are only allowed control over one bank account that effects their race, ethics board said she had control over DCC funds."

    seand:

The Ethics Board has basically decide to take away her ability to steer the biggest GOTV money hose in town for candidates seeking lesser, low-profile offices. Campbell's private "consulting business" for judicial candidates basically sold its self to potnetial judges on her ability to steer larger funds and election day ballots. Give to my personal consulting company and PAC and I will make sure the DCC money and endorsements (and the all important sample ballot positions) goes your way. After this deciision a whole lot of aspiring judges around town who have just given Campbell's firm and PAC checks for tens of thousands of dollars a piece will want their money back. That's what this means.

Thank you Michael Nutter once again for sticking to your guns and getting us a real Ethics Board with real teeth.
