It apparently hasn't taken long for Congressman Fattah to shake off any disappointment he may have felt over not winning on Tuesday. According to a media advisory, he and the mayor-elect-elect will be making a joint appearance later today:
In a show of unity, U.S. Rep. Chaka Fattah (D, PA) and Democratic Mayoral Nominee Michael Nutter will make an appearance at Independence Charter School to highlight the importance of afterschool programs in stopping youth violence and giving children a safe place to go.
4pm today.
Always tough to do things on Friday afternoon if you want to get a lot of exposure since newspaper circulation isn't as robust on Saturday. We'll post anything we hear about this appearance on this blog.

I went down to check it out (I work in the Public Ledger building). I saw both Mr. Nutter and Mr. Fattah, I guess the actual event was being held inside. They seemed pretty friendly though, amazing how they can shake it off after some pretty nasty comments during the last weeks of the campaign.

I know it's not feasible, but I feel like Mr. Nutter should be receiving a stipend for his work between now and when he takes office. The poor guy will be without a paycheck for over a year. He's not rich guy by any means. Does anyone know if his family's finances are okay?

I wouldn't feel too bad about his finances. Not only is the Mayor's salary pretty good, but when he leaves office in 8 years, he'll have an easy time getting a cushy job at a law firm as partner or lobbying firm.
