That is PURE LIES. Neither Knox or Nutter is planning "massive budget cuts." Fattah may think that their proposed budgets are not as realistic as his plan to lease the airport for $4 Billion to a company that would surrender all freedom to hire personnel to the mayor, but having an unrealistic budget is not the same as planning massive budget cuts.
The Fattah campaign put out a sheet of facts that it claims to support it, but it has no support for the ad's main claim. It merely questions some aspects of Knox's and Nutter's budgets.
This is clearly a desperate case of Fattah spinning the sh** and an attempt to win at any cost.
Nutter has proposed adding a half billion dollars to the budget... and is the only candidate who's release an accounting of how he plans to pay for it.
This ad is simply not true. Between Friday's debate and this ad, it sounds like Fattah's campaign is sinking like a brick and he knows it.
Fattah's main funding source for his anti-poverty program according to his campaign is leasing the airport which the FAA and Federal law specifically prohibits currently. Plus the airport is actually partially owned by Tinicum township in Delaware County and Fattah has not cleared it with Tinicum - in fact township officals quoted in the paper said they were opposed or skeptical.
Fattah and his supporters are right about one thing, Nutter has done very little to help the poor and disenfranchised of this city. And today's Daily News pointed out some very interesting facts about Nutter. Not one, not one council person has semi-endorsed or encouraged Michael's run for Mayor... They don't trust Him! If he does survive May 15, he's going to have a tough time getting his proposals passed. Especially since he apparently has zero friends in council. Hope he gets the Tribune endorsement tomorrow.
MOst people on council dont like Nutter because he isnt a complete party insider who does whats best for the party. remember, ethics reform and all that was not real popular amongst many of the council members. The popular thinking had to be its bad to reduce the amount of money available to machine backed politicians in Philly. Most Council members like to maintain the status quo whenever possible and Nutter rocked the boat too many times to get a lot of open support. Kenney used to be similar to Nutter before he made nice with Street and became a proponent of the status quo.

What a load of crap.
Neither candidate has said anything about "budget cuts".
Fattah has "spent a lifetime" in government, with very little accomplishments.
