    Awesome!

    sj:

    No Bob Brady? shocking.

    Dr. Kenneth Noisewater:

Headquarters of the Northeast Times?? Trevose, Pa.

The City Paper also endorses Nutter.

The City Paper also endorses Nutter.

    Fattah for mayor:

    Who really cares..he won't win!

    Tim:

I heard the Fallser also endorsed Nutter.

    ICareALot:

I was underwhelmed by Philly Magazine’s endorsement of Nutter. They kept saying Nutter had added 100 police to the police force. On a force of 6,900 adding 100 does not qualify anyone to be Mayor. Also Nutter supports the DROP program which encourages police and firemen to retire from City service. This has caused the police force to lose 500 policemen in the last few years. Net result is Nutter has reduced the size of Philadelphia’s police force. Very poor job of analyzing a candidate’s experience.

    Anonymous:

Programs like DROP encourage people to retire later in their career because it is often possible to hire 2 people for the salary of the 1 person after years on the job. AND it is voluntary - so no one has to retire. Therefore, technically, such a program could increase the number of officers by replacing the one ready(and willing)-to-retire, older officer with 2 new ones.

    Queena Bass for Mayor

Not sure where you get the information about Nutter supporting DROP, but he did introduce a bill before resigning from city council that extends by a couple years the time police officers and firefighters can remain on the force before retiring once they enter the DROP program.

I was also 200 police officers that were added to the police force and not 100.

    BTW, read the endorsement yourselves.

    Friedman:

And actually, the DROP is intended to encourage people to stay around for a few more years, not to incentivize early retirement.

    Friedman:

FYI, the Northeast Times has a circulation of about 120,000.

    Dave [TypeKey Profile Page]:

The DROP bill Nutter introduced also ended up becoming law after he left city council.

    sj:

I thouht Phila mag's endorsement was very clear and made a ton of sense. I believe most people on Council support DROP and the purpose of DROP is not to reduce the size of the police department. Even if it was, more police alone mean nothing without better tactics. Voting for the candidate that promises the most new officers without promising any changes in how the department works is pointless. Knox and Brady want more cops to do the same thing the 7000 cops are already doing.

    SoWhatNow:

Nutter didn't have ANYTHING to do with adding cops. Okay, so maybe he voted on a bill that included adding cops. Even if he did, what happened???? The crime & murder rates went UP! GREAT! And, how long was he in city council? What does he have to show for it? 100 cops (questionable claim) and a smoking ban (the Mayor actually was the one behind the smoking ban, but Nutter is taking credit) that harmed the city businesses.
He's going to be business as usual...just like all those other career politicians! These clowns (Brady, Nutter, Evans)have been running this city in to the ground. They are doing nothing more than dangling a couple of silly so-called accomplishments in front of voters. Not ONE OF THEM can say that the entire City of Philadelphia improved while they were in charge of any portion of it.
I'm voting for Knox. He KNOWS how to run a successful business. This city needs someone who knows what success looks like and how to achieve it!

    sj:

Actually Nutter, Brady and Evans really have NOT been running the city in any way. They were not in executive positions, the mayor has far more power than any of them. Its ridiculous to suggest a congressman or state legislator is "running" their home city.

    SoWhatNow:

What have Nutter, Brady and Evans been doing to collect their paychecks from taxpayers? And does anyone actually believe that Bob Brady hasn't had his hand on every single thing in this city???
As for Evans, according to him, he's done wonders in this city.
Nutter was in CC for a very long time....if CC doesn't have any power, then we should get rid of them.
The bottom line is this bozos have been collecting city paychecks (Brady via his wife) for a very long time and murder and crime rates have skyrocketed! At the same time, the city's image has plumeted. Even the mayor of New Orleans...NEW ORLEANS!...thinks this town looks like the bottom of a trashcan.
    Change is good. Embrace it!
