    Pick up, Philadelphia!

File this one under "Quality of Life" issue. A while back everyone was talking about how dirty certain neighborhoods are and wondering what could be done about it.

Well, one innovative group has picked up the ball (of trash) and is running with it.

Check out this release about "Pick Up Philadelphia" and this brief outline of the project. I know I'm one of those do-gooders that's always picking up trash in my neighborhood... though ever since the tetanus, no so much with the rusty metal trash.

    Susan:

You can add your father to that list of do-gooders who pick up trash anywhere they go.

    Jill:

I was driving down chestnut street in west Philly today, and watched a woman throw an empty water bottle out of her brand new Dodge Nitro.

Disgusting. How on earth do people in this day and age still think its acceptable to throw trash anywhere.

Its not just about picking up, its about people not tossing their trash anywhere they damn well please.

Bring back the stocks for people who litter.

Why are we paying high taxes, yet the Streets Department isn't doing its job? Why aren't streets getting swept? How about enforcement of sanitation laws???
