I was 2nd in line at 7am at my local polling place, which is at 6542 Lebanon Avenue. It's an auto garage that you can't see from the street, so I had to drive around the block a few times. When I finally found the building, which is actually not on Lebanon Avenue, but I guess that's their mailing address, I thought I must be at the wrong place because there was no sign indicating that this was a polling place - just a bunch of Bob Brady signs taped to the wall all around the entrance, so many that I thought maybe I was at Brady HQ, not my polling place. Anyway, I go inside to vote. Of course, they didn't have my wife on file, even though she put through her change of address by deadline, so she wasn't able to vote. There were 2 voting machines, but I was told to wait in line for the one that was occupied. Then the one worker, who seemed to be the auto garage owner, said to let me use the other machine, and the other guy goes, "No, Brady said to only use one machine." I don't know if there's anything wrong with that, but it certainly seemed weird. Anyway, I voted for Mike Nutter, and I have a sneaking suspicion that my vote might not be counted because this place seems so shady.

To the previous poster, definitely call the Committee of Seventy's hotline (215-557-3600) to report the probably violation (Brady posters) and suspicious bhavior ("Brady said to only use one machine").
As for me, I was at my polling place at 43rd & Market (fire station) around 7:40am and there was no line at all. I was handed two separate sample ballots, one from Jannie Blackwell (with Tom Knox on it) and another from the City Democratic Committee (with Bob Brady on it). I also received a mysterious ballot on my porch yesterday with Nutter on it (I don't remember seeing a "paid for" tag on it).
The City Committee people were, I'm almost certain, less than 10 feet from the entrance to the polling room, but the Blackwell people weren't. Other than that, the poll workers were pleasant and my name was in the binder.

Okay, I called them, but I have to say that I don't have the highest level of confidence that the person on the phone had a full understanding of what I was trying to explain to him. He said someone would call me back.

Your wife should have been able to cast a provisional ballot. That is Federal Law. They sort out whether she was registered after the fact.

M.R. is right. As long as your wife returns to the polling place before 8pm, she should be able to vote with a provisional ballot. Even if it's the wrong polling place, you should still be able to cast a provisional ballot, you'll just probably lose the district council vote.

Provisional ballots are really important, so just wanted to reiterate that not only for your wife but anyone else who needs it.
Voted at 7:30 AM and the polls up in Mt Airy were pretty busy - had to wait at least 25 minutes in line.

Your auto garage experience will be typical all day. Nutter will lose.

No, it won't. That garage just happens to be near where Brady lives. Most polling places, especially in Center City and the NW, are well run. My polling place in West Philly was well run.

Election Day hijinks have begun and the first punch was thrown by the Brady camp. Ken Smukler, at the direction of Brady no doubt, orchestrated a half dozen guys holding Knox = Shark signs outside of the First Presbyterian church on South 21st street. His people were disrupting the voting process and screaming obscenities at Frank Keel.
Anybody who cares about a fair and clean election process should be alarmed by this.

Voting machines are malfunctioning. There is frustration in lines , polling officials are uncertain how to handle issues and polling machines and now fights.
As I said earlier. Typical all day.

Nothing ever has a complete incessant confirmation to it.
