I've got a couple minutes to go through the headlines from the last couple days and point out some things you may have missed.

One Inquirer columnist is happy to have Lisa Nutter as Philadelphia first lady, not only because she's smart (two advanced degrees), successful (director of a non-profit), easygoing (calls her husband "my boo") but because of her crazy cool hair.

Congratulations to Bloomberg news for writing the story that we here in Philadelphia have been talking about for a month.

Clanging chimes of doom, anyone? The topic of municipal finances came up last night at a panel discussion that I participated in. One of the audience suggested that it seems like we're pretty much doomed to a city worker strike and the piles upon piles of trash that would ensue.

Clanging chimes of doom, Pt. 2: The SEPTA edition.

WHYY's Elizabeth Fiedler did a little post-election analysis of her own to see if the ghost is the machine.

And my favorite, advice for the next mayor from... Vai Sikahema? What does Vai say? Be a sports fan, it'll be a lot easier for all of us:

One reason I think he did was because Rendell was a huge sports fan! To a great extent, you could argue that if a politician understood his constituents' passion for their local sports teams, he or she might understand better how to serve them.

And if you get a chance, be sure to go all Ken Norton on a goalpost or two.
