    Breaking Larry West news

Daily News reporter Christine Olley was on hand to watch Larry West file his papers today, and brought back this special report:

So Larry West was at City Hall this morning, snappy in a black suit and red shirt, but -- this is new -- he says he is NOT turning in his papers to run for mayor today, or any day (!). He's miffed because the City Commissioners won't hear his arguments against the City Charter's requirement that candidates be 25.

But do not count him out. Says West: "I know it's not the end, its just the beginning. It's the beginning of something great, and not just for myself but for the city of Philadelphia."

He says he will find other outlets to pursue his dream of a Philadelphia where people aren't afraid to leave their houses. And then he suggested that citizens carry non-lethal weapons with them to defend themselves, such as tasers.

I feel sorry for Larry. He's a smart kid with a lot of hope and he really wants to make Philadelphia better. Yeah, he may not be perfect, but you gotta admit, this kid has a damn good heart!

Larry, if your reading this, I want you to know that not everyone out there is a jerk, and some people DO want you to be mayor! Keep it up; I know you can do it!
