    Citizen Journalism - Taubenberger and Nutter in Northeast Philly

    Since the latest edition of The Northeast Times doesn't seem to be on-line yet and the only other coverage I was able to find of Taubenberger and Nutter in Northeast Philly was this photo spread in the Public Record and this CBS-3 story about violence in the city (video here) which got Taubenberger and Nutter on that issue, I figured I'd get an account from the organizer of the event, Terry Devlin of CORA Services.

    Here's what he had to report:

    CORA Services served as host for the first joint appearance by Al Taubenberger and Michael Nutter in NE Philadelphia. The agency provides services to children and families through a wide variety of programs and was interested in hearing from the candidates about children’s issues and those related to NE Philly.

    About 100 citizens attended and more than 50 wrote questions to be asked of the nominees. Each made opening statements after the very first question was read by 9-year-old Anna who asked “How will you stop stores from selling bad things to kids?

    Well, that got the ball rolling and both Mr. Nutter and Mr. Taubenberger spoke of present laws being more stringently enforced and using the power of the City’s L & I department to take away stores’ ability to stay open for repeat violations.

    As has been the case in other events, it appears that both are determined to have the campaign remain a civil discussion of issues and not be averse to maintaining similar positions. The media in attendance and neighborhood paper stories reflect dissatisfaction with that attitude, but so many people at this forum publicly and privately expressed a gratitude for Mike and Al sticking to their way, at least for now.

    While more than one half of the question related to crime and quality of life issues, there was certainly a Northeast flavor to many others:
    • the expansion of Fox Chase Cancer Center: AL was against, MIKE wanted more specific info;
    • NE “mini” City Hall service center: AL says it must stay, MIKE wants to expand city services to other public use buildings;
    • the abandonment of OBGYN care in NE Philly: AL spoke of insurance issues and MIKE related that his daughter was born at Jeanes.

    Terry also provided some photos which you can check out after the jump by clicking on "Continue Reading." My apologies for not captioning the group pic, I don't know who the other folks are and I was kinda freaked out my the ghostly apparation of the nun in the background.

    (Edited to add: Got the scoop from Terry Devlin on the id's of the folks in the pictures. He's the one in the middle and the bookends are Dr. Tony Chunn, CEO and Jim Harron, Executive Vice-president.)

    So - So heartbreaking :-)

    While Michael Nutter has raised millions for his campaign and once sworn in. He will receive a six figure salary , benefits , kickbacks and lots of perks and power. In the meantime he supposedly hasn't earned a dime , we know he isn't starving , he isn't behind in his bills and his family is living quite well.

    So why is todays INQUIRER giving the public the spill , Nutter is an unemployed brother from W. Philly trying to secure a job. The public really didn't need to read this crap. Nutter's other half his (Partner in Crime ) is earning a $ 100,000.00 a year according to tax records and Nutter has said he is committed and compassionate about influencing the outcome of the election , so there is no way campaign expenditures haven't been figured into his 14 months without an income - Is There A Problem Here ? Or Is The Public Stupid Or Can This Interview To INQUIRER (Writer) Larry Eichel Come Back To Haunt After January.

    Between me and my husband we've owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I've settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.

    Great write-up, I'm normal visitor of one's site, maintain up the excellent operate, and It's going to be a regular visitor for a lengthy time.

    Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass' favor.

    But wanna state that this is extremely helpful, Thanks for taking your time to write this.

    Dead composed written content , thanks for selective information .

    The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it'll do even better in those areas, but for now it's a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod's strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.

    Utterly pent subject matter, Really enjoyed reading through.

    I regard something really interesting about your site so I saved to my bookmarks .

    Article submission is an extremely powerful process and too be honest I am not sure wether i agree with doing it automatically. My current SEO stratergys for article marketing are fairly simple. I outsouce an article to be written by a professional english writer, the article must contain at least 1,200 words and be of extremely high quality. Next i will submit it to the top 20 article websites based on Page Rank and traffic. After submitting the articles i will then do some basic backlinking and bookmarking to make sure they get indexed by the search engine spiders. I find that doing article marketing this way works extremely effective however i suppose that having the software submit less quality articles to the less dominant websites and then submit to the ones manually that you can't use a tool for with your quality article because at the end of the day quality backlinks never hurt anyone.
