Aren't there more incredible programs providing much needed support to disadvantaged fathers so they can focus on themselves and their families.
No lame excuses or stump conveyances accepted. Answers MUST be creative.

It's economics. We (collectively) aren't going to invest in a group of people for which we have no use. That is to say that there is not much here where they can contribute. There is very little industry or jobs where these disadvantaged people are needed. And the prospects for their children aren't so great either so their role as father/leader isn't so important either. Its not costing us enough $$ yet to make efforts for these lives not to be squandered.
In other areas in the country they talk about what it costs them when the workforce is uneducated and illiterate. They make efforts to make sure people are stable because they need their labor and more and more our labor force needs to be educated. It just hasn't started costing enough $$ to do anything serious about it.
