A city with a poor, crumbling, multi-modal transportation system is like a rich, powerful person with a bad heart and circulatory system. Soon things will grind to a halt and the city will slowly or, in the case of a real emergency, very quickly die. Will our next mayor be able to strengthen those arteries?

Actually, to be fair, amongst the public relations soundbytes there were a couple of good suggestions. One was for the mayor to have a transportation member in his administration. The second was to listen to the Philadelphia Planning Commission whenever they say anything. In fact, can we just replace the SEPTA board with those folks?
And, perhaps if I say it one more time for all of us, it will magically appear: MODERN FARE COLLECTION. Maybe we wouldn't be so "cynical," as the professor calls us, if SEPTA would actually listened to our concerns.

If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass' favor.

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod's. It works well, but isn't as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that's not an issue, but if you're planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod's larger screen and better browser may be important.

Hands down, Apple's app store wins by a mile. It's a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I'm not sure I'd want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.
