The Progressive Manifesto for Philadelphia's economy

Ray at YPP, is seeking to start a conversation about the next mayor (which he calls "Michael Nutter") and his role in the "future of Philadelphia's economy." Questions include, "What City Government Can Do To Raise Wages, Lift People Out of Poverty and Grow Our Middle and High Wage Earning Households?" (ok, as stated that's not a question but he fooled me with that question mark).

Check it out to join in the conversation.

No thanx !!! on the conversation. Since Philadelphia's growning inception raising wages , lifting folks out of poverty and growing higher wage earnings for households has always been a straining initiatory , so how will a discussion being called > Michael Nutter go beyond folks achieving a theme or a area of performance.

Here's what local government can do - set the stage for economic development and jobs. Provide people (and businesses) with both the reality and perception of public safety. Use the bully pulpit of the Mayor's office to improve agencies not directly under its control (SEPTA, etc.), continue the School District's trajectory of improvement by working for both more funding and more accountability at the school-level. These are the things that will improve the City.
