Last night waiting for the returns with Dan and Wendy, knowing that my vote for Oh, really is meaning something, just gives me the chillly willies. Wow, Holy Crap? Kind of an understatement.
Now this morning I see I am part of a First Amendment issue, since I was the one who complained to L&I about Damon K. Roberts being plastered all over my neighborhood. I called Mr. Roberts campaign number a couple of time first though and left a message about his signs. He had fair warning.

Is Oh that singer that couldn't sing on American Idol now running for office.
Posted by Jasper Zeigler Jr | November 7, 2007 2:21 PM
I have read that this will take weeks to decide.

No Oh is a vet and former Assistant District Attorney. He's SW Philly native and a graduate of Philadelphia public schools that went on to build a succesful Center City law business. He's a "reform" Republican and recieved the enthusiastic endorsement of former mayoral candidate Sam Katz.
His closest opponent Jack Kelly ran on "loving animals" based on his proposal to ban foie gras in Philadelphia resaurants. Kelly was heavily backed by John Dougherty's IBEW in this race and Kelly's current spokesperson has close ties to the IBEW. Keel's former clients include former councilperson Rick Mariano during Mariano's corruption investigation and John Street during the FBI bug probe.

Now I wish I'd made more of an effort to do more canvassing for Oh, and talk to more friends about the at-large race. It was just so exhausting explaining the whole damn thing over and over to people who had no idea how it worked, or what their options were.

Jasper,
That was William Hung, idiot.

I don't know if Oh is going to be able to hang on through the absentees...
Posted by Wendy | November 7, 2007 3:03 PM
I know it was William Hung. Jack Shlack the the fool here.
Posted by Jasper Zeigler Jr | November 7, 2007 3:06 PM
Wendy, what gives you that impression? Please keep us updated if more results come in, the other sites seem to have stopped updating.

Seand ,
He's a vet and know's his way around the " FBI ".
Man !!! why wasn't he exposed a little better.
Posted by Jasper Zeigler Jr | November 7, 2007 3:08 PM
You are right Wendy, we won't know, but it is quite the story. All of us who voted might just reflect that yes, we make a difference.

Philly needs to get some people in certain polling places who actually know what the hell they're doing. Why would it take a whole day to get a count from some of these machines? Unless maybe they hold those results until they know whether or not to tamper with them (I feel like no amount of cynicism is ever unjustified when it comes to politics in Philly).

I feel your pain, I did read that the absentee and military ballots will take time to open and tally. I am sure, that both Kelly and Oh, will have their reps there. I expect a recount also.
Posted by Mark Chalupa | November 7, 2007 3:19 PM
As a former Green Beret, military ballots will favor Oh.

I read that there was six military ballots to be counted, with more maybe coming in since the post mark I believe has to be one day before the election.

Well then "Jasper Zeigler Jr" if that's your real name (which it isn't), which David Oh was on
American Idol? Or are you trying to be funny and have fun with Asian stereotypes?
Posted by Jack Shlack | November 7, 2007 3:37 PM
Patricio :
I was across the " pond " 67-68. I was there for " TET " what a blasting party.
I wish I had known more about Oh. A home boy to.
Man !!! how disappointing a good man is not at a satisfactory basis.

Jack Shlack , Jack Shlack , Jack Shlack. You already took the bait. Being Jasper Zeigler Jr has always been on time for me.

Oh loses because Local 98 supported Kelly and we are unbeatable.
