It's Our Money: The "humiliating" part of property taxes

WHYY's Elizabeth Fiedler did a story today about the city Law Department's latest efforts to get folks who are delinquent on their property taxes to pay up.

    Listen to the story here.

You may remember that I wrote about this on Friday when the Law Department made their announcement.

Fiedler did a great job of getting reactions from some of the folks on the list including one business owner who, as the story says:

asked not to be named and who is already working with the city to settle up... [that business owner] called the publication of the list "humiliating."

Is it any more humiliating than being one of the tens of thousands of business or home owners who have been dutifully paying their property taxes all this time?

Meanwhile some folks have been skipping out on the check, "not just for years, but for decades," according to the City Solicitor. I'm actually not all that sympathetic to the affront on that particular business owner's pride brought about by this city effort.

(edited to add) Don't forget to check out how to provide your own testimony for the city budget process. Perhaps you have something to say about the revenue side of things. This is the place to let those stories fly.
