This interview is pointless. It was the usual dribble, how did he get started, who were his influences, blah blah blah. The only real issue discussed was one of Nutter’s favorite. Campaign Finance. Nutter, in City Council, voted to tighten limits on how much a candidate (in this case, Nutter, for Mayor) could accept as a campaign contribution. His only logical backing for this was “the public wanted it.” Be that as it may, Nutter only sponsored this because he knew that he could not bring in the $25,000 and up checks that he was banning. While Dwight Evans, Chaka Fattah, Jonathan Saidel and the like could bring in the whoppers of checks, Nutter knew that he would forever be banished to asking for change on a street corner to finance his joke of a campaign. Nutter is the little kid who always wanted to be an astronaut, but could never do it. He wants to be mayor, but is jelous of all of the other kids on the playground, they are all growing up without him.

Firstly, I wonder who Franklin is and which candidate he/she is supporting and/or working for. My name is Jeff Friedman and I live in East Falls. I don't work for Mike Nutter, but I am strongly supporting him in his bid to become our next Mayor.

Secondly, when you're an elected official, the "public wanting" something is a pretty good reason for doing something. Remember the federal investigation that's ongoing? Pretty decent justification for the giving limits for no-bid contracts that Nutter advanced.

As for his "lack" of ability to get big checks, that just silly. Of course he can get big checks. I'd turn around Franklin's logic...I think that Nutter is comfortable knowing that he can go to any neighborhood in the City and fundraise, whereas some of the other candidates don't have that same ability. Finally, check out Nutter's 2005 fundraising totals...not too shabby, he can raise funds.

I liked the interview, but hey - I was already a fan. I do think that the more people see and hear of Mike Nutter, the more they'll like him.
