September 25, 2006It's a list of suspected terrorists we're watching — in this case, watching buy guns!I can't resist channeling comedian Lewis Black (scroll to the bottom) in response to this little bit in the Inquirer profile about soon-to-be elected councilman, Danny "not-the-gay-syndicated-columnist" Savage: On the rising violence in the city, Savage said state lawmakers needed to be held more accountable. He gave no opinion on a legislative proposal to limit handgun purchases to one a month, saying, "I'd have to study it to answer that question." Before you study too hard, let me say it to you slowly, and using small words in case "legislative," "proposal," and "purchases" were tripping you up: IT'S A LAW THAT SAYS YOU CAN ONLY BUY ONE HANDGUN EACH MONTH. Now, I shouldn't be so hard on him since he was at least brutally honest when he answered the basic question of why do you want to be a city councilman: Savage said he was running because he viewed Council as the next step up from being a ward leader. That kind of honesty is like a breath of fresh air. Posted by Dan at September 25, 2006 01:51 PMComments
Why should lawmakers be held accountable. I think criminals and weak liberal judges should be held more accountable for committing the crimes and acquitting criminals and giving out soft sentences. Posted by: gary grisafi at September 27, 2006 01:16 AMPost a comment
