Bottom of the fourth

Congratulations, Pat Burrell. Seems Rod Barajas has replaced you as the primary target of the fans' wrath. Barajas struck out for the second time today to incur some hostility from the crowd. They still are smarting over that play a few weeks ago when he stood up rather than block the plate. For who, for what?

Phils go quietly in the inning, but will have the top of the lineup leading off the fifth.\

Barkowitz include the score in your updates !!!

Joe Greco:

Barajas has replaced Burrell as the fans' primary target for both blowing that block of the plate and tag against the Marlins AND then brushing it off with the comment, "Who cares? We won..." It reminds them, as if they needed reminding, of another one of Gillick's inspired off-season moves, that is to replace fan-favorite Chris Coste (and his .328 BA and proficiency in hitting with RISP) with a multi-million dollar double-play machine. Can you blame us?

Doug:

Agree - Barajas is a terrible defensive catcher and his attitude does not suit our fan base - standing up to block the plate is just of his many blunders this year. Laughing it off did not help his cause. You can't survive in Philly with that effort. Contrast that with the play Dobbs made where he came home on a grounder instead of taking the sure out against the Marlins in that game and he stood up when asked what he was thinking about the play with a response of "I wasn't thinking - it was a bad play and I feel horrible about Myers' potential injury". It's a shame we could not find a better fit at catcher for the year.
