Saw where the Yankees are miffed that Chien-Ming Wang was injured running the bases and that the Red Sox put Bartolo Colon was put on the DL after injuring his back swinging. OK, so AL pitchers don't normally bat, so they shouldn't expect to look like Tony Gwynn when they get in the box. But, they are baseball players.
It's not like taking an auto mechanic and asking him to do brain surgery. Sorry, just had to vent.
Can you imagine the Sixers saying "Reggie Evans can't shoot free throws, so Andre Miller should shoot them whenever he gets fouled." Gimme a break.
Anyone else have any thoughts?

totally agree. Are we to believe that Wang never had to run the bases while growing up and playing ball in Japan?

Its not like they havn't ever had to bat. At very worst they havn't had to bat since high school ball but its still the basic idea. There is no reason Colon shouldn't remember how to swing a bat without knocking his helmet off.
