Tandoors in place at King of Tandoor

Peeked into King of Tandoor Fine Indian Restaurant, under construction at 1824 Callowhill St., and owner Mohammed Islam offered a tour of the kitchen.

He has two spanking-new tandoors back there -- one for breads and one for meats.

The dining room is pretty much a shell; it awaits carpeting. Islam said this will be a fine-dining experience when it opens on the third week of April.

Amber:

This is really exciting news. However, I have read many of articles about Indian restaurants, but I haven't read much of anywhere about New Delhi's unbelievable renovation over by Penn. Besides the good food, the place looks like now one of the best amongst the Indian restaurants in town. I think it should also be mentioned with the more clean, upscale Indian places around here. Anyway, thanks for the info about King of Tandoor. I will definitely look out for the opening
