SugarHouse to Sue City

SugarHouse Casinos said at a press conference this afternoon that it intends to sue the city of Philadelphia. Sugarhouse, which was selected to build a casino in Fishtown, has been delayed in doing so, along with Foxwoods, for a variety of legal and other reasons. More on the lawsuit to follow shortly.

bob:

Nothing says you want to work with the neighbors of Fishtown and Northern Liberties like suing the city BEFORE the neighborhoods affected by the casinos can agree on a Community Benefits Agreement.

This is just the beginning...once they get zoning and break ground...we'll see what kind of 'neighbor' they are.

bob2:

Oh, and this public relations snafu will undoubtedly backfire...

I'm glad they're doing this...

The neighbors of Fishtown and Northern Liberties had more than tow years to work with the various organizations involved. They were lazy while the process was going on. Now all the sudden they wake up and say 'wait a minute...where did this come from.

They had their chances so let the process go. Millions of dollars in tax money are being lost because of these ridiculous delays.

Anonymous:

Yeah -- screw the neighborhood. Who needs neighborhoods and quality of life if we can squeeze a few million dollars? And, while we're at it, let's rewrite history to say it was the neighbors fault, too.
