This in from the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce.
The Chamber announces that the 2007 William Penn Award, the highest honor bestowed on a business executive in Greater Philadelphia, will be presented to Dr. Constantine Papadakis, President of Drexel University.

Papadakis deserves recognition by the city. He's a great partner in getting the city's agenda done by private or semi-private ventures.
Drexel is a world class school because of his fund raising and tireless work. Anthony Drexel and the whole Drexel family would be proud that Drexel is still for those who are smart but of modest means to go out and set the world on fire.

I don't think the paper does enough to cover what Drexel is doing. Ditto for UPenn. For some reason, the paper spends more column inches on Temple.
Drexel is working miracles in West Philly.

If the paper had more Drexel grads with science and engineering backgrounds, they wouldn't have published the mistake below:

"Nuclear foes scarce in Salem County"
By Geoff Mulvihill, Associated Press
"ELSINBORO, N.J. - The columns of white smoke visible when you look downriver are a constant reminder that one of the nation's biggest nuclear power plants is just a few miles away from this rural town in South Jersey."
Uh, that's steam people. Not smoke. The only byproduct of a nuclear reactor is energy and steam.
That's why Al Gore and Paul Tsongas are and were big proponents. It's fine to be left of left, but get it right. Pretty sure this writer didn't go to Drexel, nor the editors who let that slide.
Come on folks. Do better. Philly needs a paper that has a 21st century science and business literacy. That was Drexel's mission, and Papadakis has kept it going admirably.
Maybe you need to vet the science pieces to him before you go to print.
