When you're running for reelection while awaiting trial on federal corruption charges, you're not going to get around the big, honking, indictment that says bad things about you. And state Senator Vince Fumo's opponent in the Democratic primary next Spring, Anne Dicker, isn't wasting any time, spending her hard-earned campaign cash to "educate" voters on all those allegations. And in case you might pass over it, Dicker sent out an advisory today:

DICKER LAUNCHES AD CAMPAIGN TARGETING FUMO INDICTMENT
Philadelphia, PA, Nov 26 -- On Tuesday, November 27 the Anne Dicker for State Senate Campaign will run the first of a series of three full-page ads aimed at educating voters about the particulars of the Vince Fumo indictment. Tomorrow's ad will run on page 19 of the Daily News. The three full-page ads will run on successive Tuesdays with the next two running in the Daily News on December 4 and 11.
Oh, this is not going to be a nice one at all.

I do not like Fumo nor do I intend to vote for him but this Anne Dicker is completely unqualified to be State Senator. She's been "running" for months now and all she can do is attack Fumo. I know nothing about her positions on any important issue regarding the district. These ads are silly and not timed very well. Besides, how many Daily News readers even know what an Alpacas is? This is one out-of-touch candidate.

I have been retired from PennDot now for almost seven year's. I am sick of what I am reading and hearing in the first senatorial district. Fairmount has been my neighborhood for 55 years of my life, and south philly, my home away from home. Where have they gone? Pop's water ice is still there, but ninth street market is really not the same. The Philly mob is gone, and so is stability. Now we have "Other Mobs" and they are flourishing. I don't condone organized crime, but I do think sitting down with the criminal element in the open, and discussing the real problems in the entire city is needed. After all, didn't JFK do just that? And, didn't the Great FDR do it? Hoover ignored them, until he came out of the closet (un-willingly). Nutter, I like him so far. He seems to be heading on a somewhat right road, however, their is a buzz out there, that he is putting too much faith in the very same people who have profited from their law careers. Decisions today, must be made in a new/old tone. To solve the problem, go right to the problems cause. They (elected officials) are beating their heads against the (justice) wall. A pure example of legislative actions, is the Roosevelt Blvd. They had a task force of men and women looking for personal gain, and came up with "Red Light's". Result, another problem, who get's the money? I have and related the only true answer to stopping the deaths on this killer road, but was ignored more than once. So now, maybe I will run for the office of State Senator. Once there I will start my ideas immediately, even as a freshmen. I have 30 year's of public service to my name, I am not a lawyer, I am not even a college graduate, but I am very street smart, and have a clean criminal record, I just think like one. But hell, don't our current officials not only think like one, but act like one. Let me know, do I stand a chance?, before I move back into Philly, or should I stay here at the shore, and go off to our winter retreat each year, and do nothing.
