Councilman Wilson Goode Jr. has just shared some thoughts on the police shooting of his cousin, Timothy Jerome Goode, over at Young Philly Politics. He suggests the shooting was a case of mistaken identity. Here's a sample.
"The police shooting of Timothy Jerome Goode was a case of “mistaken identity”. Tee was probably mistaken for someone who had nothing to live for - but he wasn’t a high school dropout, he was a valedictorian. Tee was to become a father for the first time this spring. He was running for his life - and into a brighter future - until he was mistaken for not having one."

With so much danger on the streets of Phila. today, how can the police not shoot 1st if someone is pointing a gun at them? If officer Cassidy had had that chance, he may be alive today and that no good scum bag would be 6ft under and good riddance. Also the police officer who was gunned down last year in that bar on Castor ave. And what about the 2 armored car guards (retired cops) who were executed by that piece of crap? We could go on and on.....the point is if you point a gun at a cop you should be shot. Brett

To Brett Kelly:
How dare you justify this shooting by suggesting that Timothy pointed a gun at a cop. He was shot in the back. How dare you suggest that the response of the officers in this shooting is similar to the circumstances that caused Officer Cassidy to fall. That too was tragic, but different. Finally, how dare you respond at all to Councilman Goode's heart felt explanation about the lost of his cousin. You add nothing to open civic dialogue.
To Councilman Goode:
I'm sure there are many Philadelphians, like myself, who wish you and your family well in this time of need. Our prayers go to your family.

Just because someone was shot in the back, does not mean they did not point a gun at an officer.
It could be that he pointed a gun at the officer and the officer asked him to drop the gun and the guy made a sudden movement which prompted the officer to shoot. If he was shot in the back that sudden movement could have been to turn and run away and thus he was shot in the back when the officer responded to movement.
An officer cannot wait until being shot at to respond. that is patently unfair.
Mr. Goode nor his father or the boy's mother have stated that Timothy was unarmed. until a report demonstrates he was unaremed it is premature to state this was a case of "mistaken identity" that Councilman Goode claims.

Damn, denial is not just a river in Egypt. Wonder why young black men can't get ahead? Cuz no one, even themselves don't expect anything of them. This loser was 24, just graduated high school and was slinging crack like a fiend and yet his loser family defends him. If that were my family, I'd say "oh well he got what was coming to him:.
