From the 4th floor City Council chamber, Inquirer reporter Jeff Shields tells us:
The City Council's Committee on Parks and Recreation Tuesday afternoon gave the green light for Fox Chase Cancer Center's $800 million expansion by approving a deal allowing the hospital to build in Burholme Park.
Council is expected to approve the lease agreement between Fox Chase and Fairmount Park, with a final vote before month's end.
Once passed by Council, Orphans' Court will take up a petition by opponents who say the will of Robert Waln Ryerss, whose bequest founded Burholme Park, is being violated through the Fox Chase agreement.

City Council's Commission on Parks and Recreation should be ashamed of themselves. Their recommendation is just another example of government working for private interests while ignoring the public's welfare. Piece by piece, Philadelphia's parks are being diminished in size, and this example is just "one more brick in the wall." I hope that the electorate will react to the Commission's flawed decision.

Yeah, screw all those members of the public who have cancer.

The previous post ignorantly confuses the central issue concerning Burholme Park: The matter isn't about hampering the efforts and accomplishments of cancer researchers, it's about preserving some little part of the quality of life in a neighborhood community.
