Council deadlocked on Clinton-Obama

If City Council is any indication of the upcoming Democratic primary fight, it's going to be darn close, with Obama perhaps in for a bit of a groundswell.

As of Thursday, 12 of the 14 Democrats on Council had chosen a side, and it was dead even _ 6 for Clinton, 6 for Obama. Three council members are actually running as Clinton delegates -- Blondell Reynolds Brown, Maria Quinones Sanchez and Marian Tasco. None are on the ballot for Obama. At least two Councilmembers who had been with Clinton previously, Jannie L. Blackwell and Donna Reed Miller, say they are behind Obama now. Miller said she was inundated with Obama calls from young supporters."We value what they say," said Miller.

Council President Anna C. Verna and Majority Whip Darrell Clarke have not yet chosen sides -- or do they seem to relish the prospect of doing so.

Here's the breakdown:

Clinton: Blondell Reynolds Brown, Frank DiCicco, William Greenlee, Joan Krajewski, Maria Quinones Sanchez and Marian Tasco.

Obama: Jannie Blackwell, Wilson Goode Jr., Bill Green, Curtis Jones Jr., Jim Kenney and Donna Reed Miller.

I was driving home today from teaching school, and I heard a comment from Hillary Clinton about how John McCain has years of experience to bring to the White House, and how SHE has years of experience to bring to the White House...and how Sen. Obama has only a paper he wrote to bring with him...

Aside from the fact that Ms. Clinton has gone totally negative (something we were going to avoid to 'stay above the fray' - but then, after all, she was, indeed, losing, so all bets are off), she continues to pummel Obama for his lack of 'experience.'

Here's my questions...things that make you go hmmmmm.....

When did she negotiate a treaty? When did she pass a health care plan? Was she not by her husband's side when he pushed through NAFTA? The very thing that has been the ruin of Americans' making a decent wage and widening the gap of the elite vs the everyday (useless folks, unless we're spending money for corporate profit) - yet she gets on Obama for some memo in Canada.

Let's be real here: Hillary has no more experience and LESS judgement when it comes to answering that 3AM phone than does Obama.

I want someone to pursue the questioning, drilling down, as to how a/ she compares her 'experience' to Senator McCain, and b/ why she feels she can put her years as first Lady to the President as having had experience in 'dealing' with world leaders? Laura Bush goes with her husband, but has the grace not to pretend that she is doing the same thing - nor did Nancy Reagon, or even Mrs. Carter, who has more experience in many things, by far, than Hillary Clinton.

One last thing: As Ms. Clinton speaks about her Health care programs and also how she will go after the insurance companies - why does she only mention the smaller companies - never do we hear a word from her about the large corporations - the ones with the real power - it's because she's in their pocket.

I find Ms. Clinton - at her best - to be disingenuous - at her worst: just more of the same old, same old...let's give Senator Obama a try. We can't do worse than George Bush and we can do better than Hillary Clinton.

Peace. Do the research.
