
Back in the 1980s, before there was "indie-rock," there was Camper Van Beethoven, the California band of mischievous pranksters led by David Lowery (second from the right), who would go on to form Cracker and make a major contribution to Western civilization with "Eurotrash Girl." With Camper Van, Lowery and his cohorts, including guitarist Victor Krummenacher and violin player Jonathan Segel, stuck a pin in the ballon of post-punk orthodoxy and high seriousness on albums like Telephone Free Landslide Victory and Our Beloved Revolutionary Sweetheart. Camper Van has reunited from time to time this decade, and they play the World Cafe Live on Wednesday. Below, they "Take The Skinheads Bowling."
