Foppa Flip Flops ... FIne With Me

So Foppa does a right foot flip flop and signs with Colorado. Good ridance, if yiou ask me. He had become a pain to deal with on a regular basis.

I like Peter as a player and a person but as a beat writer, he was a genuine nightmare to deal with every day. He became the single, biggest distraction on the Flyers last season. Instead of writing about his exploits or the club every day, the story was "will he" or "won't he" play because of his chronically-injured right foot.

Given the state of the Flyers health with so many injured bodies, adding Foppa would have been sheer folly on the Flyers part. This team will not benefit significantly from having him in its lineup unless things get turned around and there is so much to turn around, one guy won;'t make a difference.

And yes, I believe the Flyers awful state was the major reason why Foppa chose to return to Colorado where he last won a Stanley Cup.

"You probably look at the pros and cons and have it narrowed down to a few teams," said Scott Hartnell, who played with Forsberg last year with Nashville. "When push comes to shove, we have not cut it, basically."

Kimmo Timonen agreed. So did Flyers' president Peter Luukko.

"I would think that was part of his thinking process," Luukko said. "We're missing three forwards [Simon Gagne, Joffrey Lupul, Mike Richards]. We're losing games. You'd have to think that went through his mind.

"Listen, we never counted on him coming back. It would have been nice to have him but . . . we'll see what happens at the trade deadline."

The Flyers are still in the Dan Boyle sweepstakes "if" Tampa moves him. The buzz in Buffalo tonight is that d-man Brian Campbell might be on his way to Montreal. Yeah, that is surprising that the Sabres would trade within the division but ...
