Paris - a Role Model?

paris_hilton.jpg
All this hoopla about Paris Hilton has got me thinkin.'

The Hilton heiress was in town Wednesday to pump her new perfume, Can-Can. Actually, the perfume doesn't smell half bad. It's kind of citrusy but has a hint of musk and definitely makes a statement. One of my editors came by and sniffed, commenting nothing about it was subtle. But then again, nothing about Paris is subtle.

But anyway, when people heard Paris was coming and that I had to cover her they laughed at me. They sympathized with me. Acutally, I was kicking and screaming. "What's the big deal about this woman?" I thought. "I never even watched her show.

However, maybe we can take a line from her notebook. She thinks she can sing so she cuts an album. (They were playing the single Stars Are Blind as she signed autographs at Macy's)

And her perfume is projected to gross $20 million in sales. To date her three scents have grossed over $75 million worldwide for the parent fragrance company, Parlux.

Paris says her money has nothing to do with it. (She's just in denial.) It's all about believing in yourself.

She's half right. An idea is golden and you must believe in yourself, but having millions of dollars at your disposal makes getting an idea out there a lot easier.

So what do you need most? Money? Or personal drive?

Paris already has millions of dollars at her disposal. And boy, does she dispose of it quickly! How much more money does she need?! With her revenue from her stupid perfume, she should donate major bucks to charities. And not charities for celebs! I mean charities right here in this country. I suggest she donate $5M to help the poor folks in our troubled neighborhoods in Philly PA. Murder rate has sky-rocketed & now cops are being shot at & one poor soul was recently murdered. C'mon, Paris - give it up already!

Plain and simple if Paris wasn't rich she would be working the pole at cheerleaders. Enough said and enough time spent on this rich spoiled ...

Paris Hilton has all the elements that make people sucessful. I admire the fact that she uses all her resources to her advantage because this is really what makes ANY PERSON sucessful. She has charm, great looks, motivation, and of course money. Love her!

Linda:

Addendum to my previous comment, please: I just heard that an anonymous donor gave $100M to Erie PA. Guess it wasn't Paris. This ups the ante. Instead of the $5M I suggested she donate to Philly I now suggest she donate $200M. That's spare change to her. "She has charm, great looks..."??? Guess I'm missing something here. She's just skinny & blonde - that's all it takes. ok, I'm done. Thanks!

I am worried that too many young starlets are getting more attention from wearing no underwear and going to rehab, than for having true talent.
