One of Philadelphia's immigrant-advocacy groups has created something that might be useful to employers looking for help for workers: An online directory of ESL classes. Check it out here. Many groups in the city provide essential support for immigrants, including health care and legal advice. This group, the Welcoming Center, which was launched with help from the AFL-CIO among others, aims to help on employment issues. Its ESL announcement today shows its aim is practical, not political: "Almost one year ago, cheesesteak vendor Joey Vento told immigrants to learn English.
