Kimmel's new CEO is a Democrat

So, what do we know about the Kimmel Center's new CEO, Anne C. Ewers? (See the Inky's report on her appointment here, AP's report here, and Kimmel's own announcement here.) One personal tidbit is that she's listed as a notable childless person by a website called Childfree by Choice, item No. 149 (Caveat: no source given), where she says: "There would be no time to raise children properly. It would be a disservice to them." She appears to have made the comments about five years ago. Also, Utah public records show that, conveniently enough for Philly's politicos, she is a registered Democrat. And for what it's worth, Kimmel chair Bill Hankowsky says her base salary will be $315,000 per year, "plus financial incentives tied to performance." A good bet she'll get it: while at the Utah Symphony and Opera, Ewers helped double the endowment from $18 million to $36 million and turned a deficit of $1.8 million into a surplus of $360,000. Hallelujah. - Thomas Ginsberg
