Apparently not, Mr. Stengel.
Ladies and gentlemen, the outbreak of bad basketball that began in Fort Myers Manhattan, Kan. a few days ago with Penn's loss at Florida Gulf Coast spread to our nation's capital tonight.
In my old hometown of Washington, D.C., Saint Louis set a three-point-line era record tonight for the lowest points ever scored in a basketball game as the Billikens fell to George Washington, 49-20.
Yep, that's right, 49-20. The game was so bad that I got emails about it from people in two states and the District itself within ten minutes of each other.
The previous record of 21 points had been held jointly by Princeton, which gave up 41 at home to to Monmouth in 2005; and by Georgia Southern, which gave up 61 at Coastal Carolina in 1997.*
But tonight, a team that doesn't even play the Princeton offense set a new record for futility. And frankly, between this, Penn and Savannah State, I've just about had it.
So to try to cheer myself up before going to sleep, I'm going to give a tape-delayed Line of the Day to what St. Joe's did at UMass on Wednesday. Hopefully, it will also help you get over what Rick Majerus' team did tonight.

The eight fouls committed is actually pretty impressive, but still. One for eighteen from three-point range. Wow.
Now for the good stuff:

Whoa... You are forgetting the dreadful performance by the Univ of Penn Quakers against FGCU!
For those who forget, Penn was held to 6 points in the first half.
This game precededed the Savannah State-Kansas State game.
So not sure why the post says "the outbreak of bad basketball that began in Manhattan, Kan. a few weeks ago"
Sounds like someone is covering up for the ineptitude displayed by Penn
down here PRIOR to the outbreak of bad basketball in Manhattan Kan.
6 points in a half is atrocious, and it speaks for itself.
I guess that has been forgotten.
Very weak.

As much as I would like to disagree with the FCGU Guy, he is correct.
6 points in a half is awful.
And that sadly should fall into the category of "bad basketball"
FGCU Guy -- Do you have to be so pompous? Its not like you guys have the rich tradition of college basketball such as Kentucky, UNC, Kansas, and Duke. Might want to give it a rest...

I am missing something regarding Ga Southern and Coastal Carolina. What is the issue with scoring 61 points?
Coastal Carolina? Where do they come up with these places? LOL

It's about Georgia Southern's 21, not Coastal Carolina...

Thanks for clarifying.
Was a bit hard to understand with the full scores of both Princeton-Monmouth and Ga Southern-Coastal Carolina being mentioned in the same sentence.
I guess the # of points scored by the winning team is irrelevant in that discussion, to a certain extent.
