The Delta connection to Atlanta from Wilmington was great, used it many times. If ticket sales are low, it's because Delta really worked hard to keep it a secret, even from some of their ticket agents.

I can't imagine Wilmington, Lehigh Valley or Atlantic City buying into this pipe dream. Give Philly control? Methinks not.

Holding hearings, vastly unadvertised on a Monday afternoon might be great entertainment for senior citizens, but since most people that extensively travel have jobs, attendance might be unrepresentative, ya think?

Jim:

The region truly needs another airport, if only a smaller one with flights to basic cities....they only viable place would be Willow Grove which is a good hour by car from phl and makes excellent sense.....will it ever happen?

Alan Gary:

I believe there should be regional organization of airports. Any opposition to it shows the backward short sighted thinking of Pennsylvanians in general.

If you have flown out of Lehigh Valley, for instance, you will realize the airport is virtually empty and underutilized. There is a good reason for this: Lehigh Valley has few non-stop flights. However, with a change instituted with the State and FAA, things could change. And with this change, better flights at better prices could be offered out of regional airports.

It makes sense to use an airport like Lehigh Valley, especially since people in the northern suburbs such as North Wales and Montgomeryville live closer to Lehigh Valley than to Philly.

We need change in Pennsylvania - not stagnation.

skm:

Do you need a regional authority to encourage flight service out of Wilmington and Lehigh Valley?

As previously stated, if you offer people resonable prices with numerous options and properly market the airports, people will come.

John Q.:

Jim was right, Willow Grove makes much better sense for this region. Is Lehigh Valley even part of this "region"? Why would anyone from the Philly five county area (or Jersey) drive to Lehigh Valley airport?
North Wales and Montgomeryville...two dynamic hubs of industry and executive travel.
It's not used because it was a waste of taxpayer money to build it in the first place, and it's not convenient to anyone but some farmers.
If I have to drive to Lehigh Valley, I might as well go to BWI.

JD:

Willow Grove is too overcrowded, the traffic is already horrible and there isn't enough space. The new airport would need to be somewhere farther out like Chester County.
