The rain blanketing the East Coast today is causing lots of airline delays. But airlines and their passengers were lucky over the Thanksgiving weekend, with good weather helping flights stay on time. US Airways just reported in a news release that almost 86 percent of all its flights were time over the five-day period of Wednesday through Sunday. The airline gave employees a hearty and well-deserved "attaboy!" in an internal message it shared with us.
The record at PHL over the weekend for all carriers at times was almost as good as US Airways' systemwide performance. Yesterday, 80-90 percent of flights throughout much of the day were on time. The record slipped to about 70 percent last night. And by looking at the national weather map, it looks like relief from today's big storm system is in sight. There's no bad weather west of the Missipppi and moving east.
