Sabre rattling by US Air. I agree with the city (imagine that), Delta needs the gates and anything that can assist Southwest to schedule more flights to other cities is a good thing for Philadelphia. And that's what is most important.
I fly US Air 90% of time, but I don't support them at all in this dust up. Call their bluff, people here won't bother to fly to Charlotte to make the connection.

Who cares, I can't imagine sitting on one of USAIRWAYS dilapidated planes for 14+ hours. Let Southwest have more gates and bring US some competition to other cities.

Tom:
This whole issue is stupid , why on earth would the Airport move Delta to concouse A with
many Regional Jet Flights and tie up international gets with regional flights.
I have a better Idea, why not have Delta or Southwest use the People Movers proposed for
US Airways. Its much easier to unload narrowbody aircraft than it is a Widebody.
By the way your reporting is biased, always
referring to US Airways Seasonal flights.

Tom,
Either you are completly biased in favor of Southwest or you are stupid. Big deal 1 flight a day to San Antonio or Austin, US Airways gives us Gloabl Reach: Rome, Zurich, Brussels. Yet you always focus on US airways thwarting
Southwests Expansion for a couple of seasonal european routes. Next time you need to travel to Europe call your boys at Southwest..

There are 32 flights scheduled to take off between 6am at 6:30am..Now you know why flights are delayed out of PHL and airlines want to add more flights?? Unbelieveable..
End of story

Philadelphia will be making a typical "Philly Bungle" if they don't find a satisfactory way to allow for the China flights to comence. The growth in the global economy is ALL in Asia and unless Philadelphia makes thi non-stop link they'll just have a bunch of discount flights to Texas on S.W. Airlines [big woop!] and no business building service to Asia.
Figure it out fast and make it work.

I can understand both sides of the arguement but if US Airwyas does pull the Philly to China route then Philadelphia needs to sell itself by attracting more international flights to this region. Dallas/Ft. Worth is doing it so why can't Philadelphia do the same thing. Bring in more overseas airlines and then you can tell US Airways where to go.
Many people went to bat for US Airways to have a shot at this route and now they (US Airways) want to show their butts. If this is how US Airways does business it's no wonder Southwest airlines is killing them on the market.

Southwest isn't killing US Airways, or anyone for that matter, on international flights. The fact is there are currently a limited number of gates at PHL and they would best serve PHL users for int'l service from USAir, not domestic flights on Delta. I have flown on about 7 non-stop flights to Europe on USAir, some on modern and clean A330s and some on older 767s. Most flights have been pleasant, if not spectacular. one thing they have in common is non-stop, which is much better then a connection in JFK or Heathrow. why would anyone want to give some of those flights up so delta can fly a regional jet to Louisville, KY? ON another note, since int'l passengers can only embark in terminal A, the answer is obvious who should get the gates. Can you imagine if US Air tried to wrestle int'l gates away from Delta at JFK or Atlanta for domestic flights? it would never fly, pardon the pun, so why does it fly here???
