Jeanette:

I think this is a great idea. I'm a mother of two young children who flies frequently to visit family. I always feel so rushed in security lines with lots of scowling people behind while my husband and I field our two kids with a stroller and carry-ons through security. Having a family only line will at least allow us to feel better, since it will only be other families behind us dealing with the same thing.
