Yet another example of a silly airline management adding structural costs to collect money that just isn't coming. Anyone flying on this airline - mainline or puddle-jumper - knows that the Preferred members are jammed up during Zone 1 boarding, taking sometimes 2/3 of the aircraft. Many times I, as a long-time preferred member, can't get preferred (I can't say the new word yet) seating because of the dozens of other preferreds who already chose their seats.
I predict that, just like the second-checked-bag charge, the airline will not achieve as much of the revenue increase as their money people predict. Will this even pay for itself? Maybe, maybe not.
But that we have a hub airline in Philly that needs a clue remains a constant.

My friend and I are frequent fliers with US Air. When the announcement came out about the $5 charge, we decided to come up with some additional ideas for them to raise revenue. Our best idea is for $5 you get your picture with the Pilot. For an additional $5 you get your picture taken wearing his hat.
What's next ?

Just when I was getting over the lemon slice report. What's next? A valet in the lavatory to collect quarter tips for handing out paper towels? God help us all.
God Bless America!
