Thriving, not just surviving

I was glad to see Robin Roberts return to Good Morning America yesterday. She looked wonderful after being away for little more than a week following breast cancer surgery.

Not only did the surgery go well, but she's now doing reports and interviews about having breast cancer. She's come back with a new energy and a new mission.

And she's not unlike many women who've had breast cancer. The diagnosis and treatment are not a death sentence and no longer mean you can't work or do other things.

Is it hard? Yes.

But I know for me it was worth it for me. I liked being surrounded by family, friends and co-workers when I was going through treatment. I drew from their strength and continue to do so.

And it seems to be worth it for Robin and many other women as well. You have to work it out with your doctors.

Susie:

I think that you are a very brave woman. This disease affects so many women every year. I am currently participating in the Breast Cancer 3 Day event. It takes place in October and I never thought that I would meet such great women while I have been training and fundraising for this event. I have a lot of respect for you and I really look up to women as strong as you. I included my link to the 3 Day in case you wanted to learn more about it. http://www.the3day.org/philadelphia07/susieblank
