Rosemary, I was actually thinking of pulling into a single pump gas station on a Montana or Utah two lane road when I saw the sunset sky above this full-serve mega-pumped Wawa between two of the busiest roads in South Jersey.

I can't believe I had forgotten all about that George Tice photo. Now (after your reminder) I remember the first time I recognized the location of his photo. I even shot a photo there just last week (they are re-painting the water tower) from the 7-11 parking lot.

The light wasn't that great, so I'll be keeping an eye on it.

I'd be great if YOU - or any other readers - have shot any updated versions of New Jersey photos by famous photographers. Send them to me at roadtrip@phillynews.com as email attachments, so I can share them here.

Anyone out there retracing Ester Bubley footsteps?

Tom Gralish is a general assignment photographer at The Inquirer, concentrating on local news and self-generated feature photos. He has been at the paper since 1983, photographing everything from revolution in the Philippines to George W. Bush’s road to the White House to his Pulitzer Prize-winning photo essay of homeless people in the city.

For his photo essay on Philadelphia’s homeless, he was awarded both the Pulitzer Prize and the Robert F. Kennedy Award. During the first Gulf War, he was the photo editor in Saudi Arabia for all newspaper photographers embedded with U.S. military units.

His weekly column, "Scene on the Street," takes a look at Philadelphia's urban landscape.
