Unforgettable Art, April 28th Rockford, IL

I will be participating in Unforgettable Art again this year. It is a fundraiser sponsored by the Rockford Illinois Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.

Basically, artists are given a piece of canvas, paint and brushes and create a painting that is auctioned off later on in the evening. It is a fun event and proceeds go to a good cause. I am planning to paint my ice fishermen fish. Probably will paint one of the fishermen's jacket in the colors of Da Bears.

Nor'easter from a midwest perspective

So this is a nor'easter. I suspect we didnt get the brunt of it here near the PA/MD/DE state line, tho I hear the wind picking up. May have to invest in a wood chipper. I suspect there will be branches all over the yard when this is done.

We ran down to Wilmington today. It was pretty wet. I cant get over how much run off there is on the roads. Clearly there is a lack of ditches here. Tho with the amount and speed of water that was running along the sides of the roads, I was really surprised that there werent more natural ditches due to errosion. There are numerous creeks in this area with steep banks, which I would assume would be due to the speed and amount of water that run through them.

Working on getting more things up on etsy. I noticed that my geisha journal is getting "alot" of views. So decided to use it on more items. Hopefully I will have those ready by the end of the week.

They have a showcase feature. A couple of bucks a day for a spot. They announce when they are going to be selling that space and it appears to sell out quickly. So will be watching for the next time. Meanwhile, I need to look at how to list several things at once. They have a recently listed feature that updates every 15 seconds or so with two lines of about 6 pictures. I think a block of items from the same person might get noticed more so than one or two. I dont recall a "save" feature when I was listing the other items. So maybe opening several windows at once might be the way to go.

InLiquid finally put links up for most of the participating artists for the Art & Furniture Experience fundraiser Wednesday night. I thought they were going to have a preview of the pillows that will be available. Some of the artists posted a picture on some of their sites. Imagine they must have decided that it would be too labor intensive to photograph and post each pillow before hand. They did say that they will be putting the unsold ones up in their online store.

Had hoped to have a new digital before the event. Have been looking at something smaller than the one I have. Decided on the Sony Cybershot 7.2 mg pixels model W55. The salesperson at Best Buy said that it does well with colors. But that model was out of stock. Not due in until Thursday. Oh well. Hopefully will get it before I go to Rockford.

The Pillow Fundraiser.

Attended the InLiquid Art & Furniture Experience at the downtown Dane Decor at 315 Arch Street last night.

I met Kim Senior and we looked around at the pillows. There were some interesting ones. I thought to myself how that I had definitely taken a midwest approach to mine.

We decided to step out and get a bit to eat. We ended up at
La laconda del Ghiottone. We both chose antipasto dishes. Kim had wild mushroom crepes and I had fresh mozzarella, prosciutto & tomatoes. It was just delicious drenched with balsamic vineagar and oil. I oft times pick up a container of plain fresh mozzarella balls at the grocery store and just dunk them in some balsamic vineagar and salt for a snack. This was way much better.

Prior to eating, we did stop in Gargoyles Gallery . It was open and had an inviting look. It had an eclectic mix of items. They had several trophy cups that caught my eye. Kim was taken by some art by someone she was familiar with and alligator luggage.

We headed back to Dane Decor to check on the status of our pillows. I ran into
Sandy from
Lost & Found. I had met her briefly at the Philly Biz Ladies meeting at Art Star Gallery a few months ago. The Philly Biz Ladies are a younger set of entreprenauers and Sandy and her daughter talked about how they started their business.

Rick De Coyte from Silicon Gallery Fine Art Prints was coming in the door as we were leaving. I said hello, waiting to see if he would remember when Kim and I came to check out their printing services. Took him a minute and then he remembered that I was from Wisconsin.

Well, I took several pictures last night with my new camera. Got to figure how to down load onto the computer and will get some posted later.

Mural workshop

I stopped in at St. Cornelius on Ridge Road in Chadds Ford to see Kim Senior's workshop class today. Bev Oehlert from Limerick, PA, Mary Watts from Doylestown,PA, Denise Klose from Westchester, PA, and Grace Douglas from Missouri were the students. They are working on the vineyard mural. It is being painted on about 20 feet of polycanvas and will be applied to the sides of the ceiling in the narthex. Kim will be doing another mural workshop next week. This time a wheat field . There are a few openings for this class. Contact Kim for more info.

Heading out to Rockford Thursday for the Unforgettable Art fundraiser.

Meanwhile, I have posted more things on my Etsy shop.

Got an interesting call right after I got back from Chadds Ford. Hopefully will have some good news next week.
