Fish on Canvas

Unforgettable Art went well. It was fun to paint one of my fish on canvas.
I wasnt sure how I was going to paint the background -- as you can see here on the digital one. They ended up kind of looking like little chunks of ice.

Been a busy week. Will post bits and pieces as I catch up with things.

FYI. If you fly United with connecting flights, make sure you allow extra layover time. I had delays coming and going.

Fellow Etsy shop owners on TV

I have been on the Etsy forums asking about other shop owners experiences being on TV. Three have segments coming up soon. One on June 11 and the other two will be on May 8th. Click on their names for more details.

Some more art from Unforgettable Art.

Art Bartkowiak was at Unforgettable Art again. I bid on his work, but was quickly outbid. There were at least two others bidding on his work.
He did two pieces as one guy didnt show up and there was a blank canvas awaiting some paint.
I started bidding on the second one also. And again was quickly outbid. Darn.
Chuck Gregory from Rockford was there again. His piece came up for auction before Art's. I wish I would have bid on his. It was a real steal.

Wheat field mural at Chadds Ford.

I stopped by to see Kim Senior at her second workshop at St. Cornelius's. Here is a link where you can see her and student, Jamie Kyle from The Gilded Brush in Boyerstown, working on the

Studio 432 in Perryville MD

When my friend Terry came to visit a couple weeks ago, I picked her up at the BWI airport. We stopped at a few towns along the Chesapeake coastline including Perryville, Maryland.

We spotted Studio 432 (432 Aiken Ave) just as we came into the main route to town. It is an old church converted to a studio/gallery. Sue Eyet is the owner. She works primarily in recycled metal art and had her touches around the gallery. She also represents other regional artists.

I also found out that she is going to be featured on "Look What I Did" on HGTV in the near future. Filming has already been done and she is waiting for an airdate.

Her gallery was full of fun things. It is the type of place that I have been looking to visit since I moved here. There is an studio addition where classes will be held.

It is a wonderful place to stop and highly recommend it as a destination or a detour stop if you are out on Highway 40.

UA invitation 2007

The cropped piece of my artwork is the chest in the middle of the bottom line
To the left is the cover from the Unforgettable Art fundraiser for this year. I was quite surprised that they used a cropped section (check Jan 5, 2006 post at my other blog if this link doesnt work) of the piece I had painted last year. (I repainted one of mine from one of the Open Canvas events). Not sure how this fits in with abstracts, flowers, veggies and landscapes. Well, I had a good laugh when I saw it.

Things going on

Should be able to share some good news next week.

Meanwhile. I have been busy putting things up in my Etsy shop. I bought a showcase spot last week and it increased views. Waiting on sales. Trying a different look if you havent checked it out recently. Kind of a sappy manga style -- for lack of a better description.

Signed up for a art show/craft fair (cringe) in a few weeks. Sent my application in at the last minute, so hoping I made the deadline. Not necessarily looking to sell alot, but need to get the word out about the etsy shop and figured this might be a good way.

My art rep Wilkinsons Studio is updating things on their website. Have got to send in more information about myself --, ie, new bio AND a photo. Writing bios and getting my picture taken -- two of the more painful things in life :-)

Today they came.

A couple of months ago, I saw an post on Craiglist that a network cable show was going to be filming in Delaware this year and was looking for artists. I dont live that far from Delaware and it is a small state. I go there for most of my shopping cause there is no sales tax. So I figured why not apply?

Well, apparently I sparked their interest.

Today they finally came and did the shoot.

It was a small crew. They were all very nice and friendly. I had to prepare the steps for my project ahead of time so we werent waiting for paint to dry.

They were very patient with me. I would forget where I was in the process and what I was going to say. Then I would talk before they started to film -- yes, had to wait for them to say "action". I flubbed the words. It reminded me that maybe I should have stayed in speech therapy longer than I did as a child. I would speak at the same time I was making noise doing the project. Would forget to look at the camera lens and smile. I would move too fast and then I would move too slow. Again, they were very patient.

They had me doing goofy things and ham it up for the camera. Was too busy to try and hold my stomach in. I would think, --the camera adds 10 lbs -- holding my stomach in is not going to do much to effect that --- especially being of some girth as it is! Thankfully the majority will be edited out, but I am sure it will come off corny.

Two of the crew have been with the program for about 4 years, since the beginning. I was really impressed that they were able to catch the small things, like whether or not I was wearing my glasses in the scene before, or if the materials on the table had changed. Even if a dog was barking at the same time I was speaking. It probably is an automatic response for them. But again, I was impressed.

They filmed in my sunroom. They had to use lights. Yes, it was warm. I felt like I was back living on the Gulf Coast. Sweating in places I didnt know could sweat.

It was a long day. Didnt sleep of course the night before. That's why I couldnt remember what to say --- not that I am getting older.

It probably wont air til next year. I cant send out any press releases until I get an air date. Guess that will be reason enough for you to be checking back in.

I am sitting here at my computer, anxiously awaiting bed time. I took a shower after they left. My scale says I lost 2 pounds. Yeah right. It should be so "easy". Legs, feet and back all hurt. Would I do it again? ......well..... not tomorrow.
