A Smile in the Making

I just posted some photos of the gocco printing process over on A Planet Named Janet. Planning to list it today in the shop.

I did do the burning process a bit differently. I put a piece of card stock on the printing bed behind the xeroxed copy. Plus I didnt hold the top of the gocco down as long after the lightbulbs flashed. So the texture of the printing bed did not transfer through. The ink printed a bit heavier, leaving a bit of texture.

This is so making me think of retiring in the south somewhere.

Dale Evans mock up. Doris Day is just waiting for a background.

I chose to make a Dale Evans thinking she will cross some markets -- vintage/retro icon and cowgirl. My first attempts had some problems. The screen didnt burn completely for some reason. So I am trying to decide whether to touch up or to reburn the screen.

Havent done an illustration for Illustration Friday for awhile. Decided to do a quick one. Theme this week is "Theory". What kid hasnt tested this one?

Daily I go into my spam folder and delete everything.
Some of the titles are just too much.
Wouldnt it be nice if we got innocent spam instead?
Thought I might do a series of innocent spam. Could see them as gocco prints.

Theme this week for Illustration Friday is Multiple.

Did this piece for the White Bear Lake Open Canvas. The winning bidder titled it. Interesting what internet searches it tends to bring to my site.

Muddy Waters is back up in the shop too. The first one sold right away.

Rob Kalin founder of Etsy was on Martha Stewart today. I also noted that Robert Fallon and Libby Rosof of Artblog (in Philly) posted a short piece about Rob and Etsy the other day.

Etsy doesnt do "traditional" advertising, relying alot on word of mouth. So it is nice to see when the media takes note.
