At 2, the official Philadelphia temperature had nudged up to 95, and the heat index had crept past 104, which is mightily uncomfortable. By contrast, it was 89 in Miami, Fla., and in a land where the locals walk around in a relentless water-vapor soup, the heat index was a relatively wimpy 97.
With a west wind and substantial sunshine, Philadelphia should set a new high-temperature mark for the 2007 season. Back on both July 9th and 10th, the official temperature hit a season-high 96.
If the heat has made you too tired to do anything else, you can keep track of this exciting race from your home or desk computer by clicking on this site.

Tony,
This is the first day this summer that the high dew points that the mos guidance has been forecasting actually occurred. What a steam bath this morning. Its currently 97 at home, it also says the heat index is currently 107F. All summer long the gfs mos guidance has been too high with max temps, today could also be the first hot one that is also close. The eta mos guidance on Monday gave PHL a high of 89F for today (gfs mos was 100).
