The temperature didn’t make it to 90 today in Philadelphia, but tomorrow may well be the warmest and most-uncomfortable day of the season.
The National Weather Service has posted an excessive heat warning for tomorrow and Wednesday. The forecast high for Philadelphia is 97, and the highest official reading so far was 96, recorded on July 9th and 10th.
The heat index is expected to crack 100 tomorrow, but based on the weather service discussion, it’s possible that the humidity might drop a tad just as the peak temperatures ripen.
And on Wednesday, some decent showers might hold down the temperatures or at least provide some temporary relief.
Once again, however, it appears that this will not be a long-lasting spell of extreme heat. It will stay muggy, but the temperatures won’t be as high later in the week, and right now the weekend is looking cooler.

In February, when you are scraping ice off your car and it's been below freezing for 14 days, think of these days in August.
